On Wednesday, April 23rd, a local Veteran, US Army Staff Sergeant Antwain Cooper and his family, received a home with fencing and gates supplied by Best Fence & Rail of Florida.
Launched in 2013, the Built to Honor® program builds brand-new mortgage-free homes for deserving veterans and their families as they transition out of the military and into the next phase of their lives.
SSG Cooper joined the Army in 2005, and he would serve 4 deployments overseas, including 2 to Iraq and 2 to Afghanistan. During his deployment to Jalalabad, Afghanistan, while serving as a Husky driver, his vehicle was hit by an IED that was buried. The IED blast blew him 75 yards away from the impact, knocking him unconscious. Staff Sergeant Cooper suffers from PTSD, TBI, headaches, cervical and lumbar strains, neuropathy, and lower extremity radiculopathy. After serving his country for over 11 years, he was honorably and medically retired in October 2016.
